Two Questions came up in the last CCH class.  I asked the NC Justice Academy Instructors for answers and here they are:

1st Question - Do you lose your right to open carry after receiving a CCH permit?

Answer -   Obtaining the permit does not deny you rights that you already have, therefore you do not lose the right to carry open.

2nd Question - Do you have to retreat while in your car?

Answer - Retreat is always required with the two exceptions.  The exception that would probably apply here is the issue of iniment threat of death or great bodily harm.  One should always attempt to retreat is retreat is possible.  In a car could be quite impossible, for instance in a car jacking attempt....guy with a gun comes up and threatens you while in the car.  Yes you might could drive off......or if you used force the issue would be your fear of this armed attacker...
