David Harrington, Jr has been a member of the Matthews Police Department for 17 years.  He has served in various positions for the police department to include Telecommunicator, Patrol Officer, Detective, Detective Sergeant, and most recently Sergeant in Support Services division.  This division involves the following areas: In-Service Training , School Resource, Community Programs, Telecommunications, Public Information / Media Relations, and Animal Control.  Currently David is the supervisor over Training and Animal Control.  David is a North Carolina state certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, a Carry Concealed Handgun Instructor, a Taser Instructor, Mobile Video Instructor, Low Light Firearms instructor, ASP Baton Instructor, Rapid Deployment to an Active Shooter Instructor, and CPR Instructor.  David is also one of the departments Glock Armorer's. 

David has completed over 2,500 hours of additional law enforcement training since completing Basic Law Enforcement Training in 1995.  David is also the police departments lead instructor for Crime Prevention (both personal and business) and the supervisor for the departments Neighborhood Watch program.

David Harrington, Sr is also an instructor for Harrington Shooting Sports.  David Sr has over 40 years of shooting experience with handguns, rifles, and shotguns.  David Sr is an NRA certified pistol instructor, and assists in teaching Carry Concealed Handgun and is a lead instructor / assistant for Basic Handgun.
