Welcome to Harrington Shooting Sports. Located in the Matthews / Monroe, NC area we provide professional and practical instruction in basic pistol shooting, gun safety, proper gun handling, Carry Concealed Handgun Instruction, and private shooting lessons. We also have Glock, Remington 870 Shotgun, and AR15 / M16 rifle certified armorer services available.
Coming Soon! These courses will be ready in the fall or early winter 2011/2012
Intermediate Fundamentals: This course will explore different shooting practice, holsters, shooting positions, etc. This course is currently being developed.
Low Light Fundamentals / Laser's on Firearms: This course will focus on principles surrounding use of flashlights and laser aiming devices on handguns. This course will require 400 rounds of ammunition, a flashlight, and a holster.
Qualified Retired Officer Program info: If you are a retired law enforcement officer or qualified seperated officer and need to qualify to carry concealed under HR 218, we now offer that service. This training will include a training block on the use of deadly force by private persons, and NC Laws of self defense. You must also qualify annually with the weapon(s) you choose to carry. Please contact us for fees and locations for this training.

Qualifed Retired Officer Qualification program
David Harrington, Jr has been a member of the Matthews Police Department for almost 19 years. In his current assignment he is a Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Division. David has previously been the Sergeant over the School Resource Officers, Media Relations, Community Programs, and In-service Training Unit. Prior to being promoted to Sergeant, David had served in the Telecommunications Division, Patrol Division, and the Criminal Investigations Division.
David is one of the departments instructors and is certified to teach the following:
NC Law Enforcement Firearms, NRA Pistol, Low Light / Laser Firearms Fundamentals, Taser, ASP Baton, Rapid Deployment to an Active Shooter, Mobile Video Operator, and CPR.
David has attended over 3,100 hours of additional training since completing the police academy. David has also developed Neighborhood and Business Watch programs for the police department; and was the departments spokesperson for several years.
David is also a Glock, Remington 870 Shotgun, and AR15 / M16 armorer.
David Harrington, Sr. is also an instructor with Harrington Shooting Sports. David Sr brings over 50 years of shooting experience to our classes. David Sr is an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, a certified NRA Range Safety Officer, and has many years of experience in rifle and shotgun shooting.
